Nowadays in hip hop the phrase `I aint a rapper' has became very cliche for those who lack true talent. Television, radio, and magazine publications force fans to see and listen to the same artists without giving them variety. Antonio Slim is the total opposite, his clever wordplay mixed with vivid storytelling is a reminder that hip hop is still alive. The emcee born Quinten Pressley was raised in Fayetteville, NC. Slim fell in love with hip hop at an early age after hearing the LL cool J classic "Bigger and Deffer". He began writing rhymes after hearing the common classic "I used too love her". Slim began sharpening his skills battling in lunchrooms, skating rinks, street corners, and on the local radio station foxy 99 where he won several Apollo Thursdays. At age 16 Slim signed to a local indie label Uncutt Records, where he and childhood friend Camay recorded the single a "million reasons" with hopes of dropping an album The company went under and Slim was back at square one. Never one to just accept defeat, Slim put out his debut mixtape "Murda He Wrote" in 2005, the mixtape created a small buzz that was followed by another mixtape entitled "Heir to the Throne pt 1". Soon after Slim began performing in open mics and opening for artists such as two chainz, 8ball, scarface, young joc, big kuntry and bun b. In 2011 Slim dropped his third offering "Ya All Welcome", the project caught the attention of Lashon ts jones who signed Slim to his "Got What U Need" label imprint in 2012. Slim dropped the gritty single "No Love", the single gained moderate play in the UK, France, Canada and Kenya. In 2013 Slim independently dropped his debut ep "Downtown Story", the ep stays true to the gritty lyricism and traditional boom bap production of past hip hop legends. Slim lists Nas, Big L, Jay-Z, Scarface and Common as his influences.
